Chicago’s Revolution Brewing officially debuts its new 18pk of Cross of Gold golden ale next week, co announced today. Cross of Gold clocks in at 4.8% ABV and 25 IBUs and has been “one of the top selling beers at the Revolution pub and taproom,” brewmaster Jim Cibak pointed out when co first announced new pack in early May. And this summer Long Trail’s debuting 18pk of a new beer called Trail Hopper, Burlington Free Press slipped into longer piece about 15pks this wk. Indeed, these are new wrinkles into growing craft value pack phenomenon. After Founders paved way with its unique 15pk of All Day IPA, several cos opted to follow in some way/shape/form, including (but not limited to) New Belgium, SweetWater, Founders again (w/ seasonals), Shock Top, Goose Island, Golden Road, Oskar Blues (16pk), 21st Amendment, Jack’s Abby, Bronx Brewery, Starr Hill (16pk), Otter Creek, and Boston Beer’s Traveler Shandy and Sam Adams (Light). Most of these new pks either launched earlier this yr or plan to launch later this yr. It’s fair to say this is trending toward more than just a niche presence in the mkt, tho currently still relatively small overall in craft.
