New Belgium returned to spirits world to find its new CEO, hiring Steve Fechheimer to take over role next month, co announced today. Steve spent 8 years at large, high end spirits co Beam Suntory, most recently serving as Chief Strategy Officer. Before that, he spent time as COO at Sierra Club Green Home as well as with Boston Consulting Group and Marakon Associates. At NBB, he’ll run the exec team as well as “short-term strategy” and day-to-day ops. Founder Kim Jordan noted “his expertise at strategy development and execution,” calling Steve “smart and driven,” as well as “approachable” and “the perfect cultural and business fit.” She’ll go back to serving as Executive Chair, handing over interim CEO responsibilities she took on after departure of Christine Perich last fall. Announcement comes just on heels of another exec team departure, that of Ruairi Twomey, as CBN wrote on Friday. Recall, Ruairi also came over from big spirits co, spending 15 yrs at Diageo Guinness USA. At same time, NBB appointed a couple other current employees to new roles. Joe Davis will take on COO position in addition to serving as co’s General Counsel. And longtime NBB employee Jenn Vervier steps up as interim marketing veep, following Ruairi’s resignation.
