Founder of Alewife, Daniel Lanigan, also founded Lord Hobo bar in Boston. Both concepts went on to become breweries, tho Daniel was seemingly not involved with Alewife Brewing as Lord Hobo took off and sold to Valterra Partners private equity firm in 2017. Alewife produced just over 1K bbls/yr, primarily sold at its taproom, per Brewers Assn estimates.CO's Goldspot to Shut Down in Feb Denver's Goldspot Brewing Co, a haven for women and LGBTQ+ craft beer lovers, will close on Feb 1, reports The Denver Post. "Saying goodbye is deeply bittersweet," co wrote, tho it promised "Goldspot isn't going away" and "we'll continue with distribution and look forward to hosting events all across Colorado as we shape what comes next."Owner Katie Hieber, who started as a brewer shortly after co opened in 2015 and became part owner in 2018 before taking full control in 2021, didn't announce her future plans for the brand but previously told the Post that Goldspot's unwavering support of her brewing efforts made the biz stand apart. "That's almost never how it works for a woman," she said in 2021. "That has not been a lot of people's story and especially if you are someone who has to do a bunch of beer fests and inevitably are put into these really toxic environments."San Antonio's Mad Pecker Closing Again, This Time for Good Another brewery closing up shop after a decade is San Antonio, TX's Mad Pecker, which briefly shut in Mar before reopening in May but closed permanently on Tues, reports My SA. The co reported 131 bbls produced to the BA in 2024 and earned its temporary reprieve from an "outpouring of community support," per report, but was unable to subsequently find its footing.
