Beer prices have been consistently up around 1.5% in tracked off-prem channels and beer CPI increases accelerated in Apr and May. Yet the beer and RTD industry is still showin’ out for key holidays with all kinds of deals, seemingly stepping up its promo activity leading into July 4 weekend compared to Memorial Day, INSIGHTS found scanning top chains across the country. More Rollbacks on STZ Portfolio in Walmart for July 4 WkndThere’s a wider array of Constellation brands on rollback in Walmarts for July 4 weekend vs Memorial Day holiday, INSIGHTS found. Stores typically had at least a couple of STZ brands deals thruout TX, FL, NY, NC, AZ, and OR, among other mkts. Dallas, TX deals again stood out, posting 24pks of Modelo Especial, Corona Extra cans, Pacifico, Corona Familiar, Corona Premier, and Modelo Oro for $19.97 each, just 10 cents more than Mich Ultra and Yuengling Flight suitcases, 20 cents ahead of Bud/Bud Light and $1.10 ahead of Miller Lite, Coors Light and Coors Banquet. HUSA’s Dos Equis suitcases matched Constellation prices too. These were some of the lowest prices INSIGHTS found on STZ suitcases. Pacifico 24pks were more than $8 below its usual price in these stores, more of an anomaly. There were also more instances of 7.5oz Coronita/Modelito 24pks on rollback in other parts of TX and thruout FL, on top of core brand deals. In general, it was a clear step-up of Constellation brands on rollback across the board.Another Atypical Cast of Brands on BOGO in Publix Publix stores in FL had a larger list of BOGO brands vs Memorial Day across FL and SC stores, with some wildcards in the mix. Both FL and SC had Topo Chico Hard, Bud Light Lime, SweetWater, Montucky Cold Snacks and Bero 12pks on BOGO for the latest weekly ad, giving folks the oppy to save anywhere from $18 to $23 on their 2d pack depending on the brand and store. Landshark Lager 12pks were also on BOGO in SC stores but not FL.Wide Array of Brand Deals in Binny’s in Chicago Binny’s stores in Chicagoland had the widest array of brands on promo pricing for the holiday weekend that INSIGHTS came across, with long lists of beers, wine, spirits, wine & spirit RTDs and THC bevs on deal. Notably, one of the “deal[s] of the week” included Cutwater 12pks for $19.99, $6 off its typical price, touted as “the lowest price in the U.S.” Tho ironically, Meijer in MI is selling Cutwater 12pks for just $17.99 a pop with a $5 rebate. Garage Beer 24pks were $7 off for $17.99 each in Binny’s, also on “deal of the week.” But promo prices were heavy across the board, including 10 different hemp THC bev brands on the weekly ad flyer alone, tho INSIGHTS counted over 20 listed on deals. On top of the typical mainstream lager and flavored alc bev brand activity, a lotta craft beer brands are heavily discounted again too, with Southern Tier Overpack’d 15pks again the biggest deal, more than 50% to just $9.99. Plus, there’s a wider array of import brands on deal including Schofferhoffer Grapefruit and Sapporo Premium and Paulaner along with more typical top brands like Heineken Original and Stella Artois. Tho Constellation brands were not discounted in Binny’s stores (or IL Walmarts) INSIGHTS viewed. Heineken 12pks were $8 off to $12.99 a pop, marking one of the larger % discounts.Suntory -196 RTD Takes the Cake with 8pks for $1.96 w/ $10 Rebate in Jewel Osco As usual, Jewel Osco in Chicago area sported some of the lowest prices in the country, with 24pks of Bud/Miller/Coors for $12.99 ea when you buy 2, $15.99 for Mich Ultra and Yuengling 24pks, and just $14.99-$15.99 for 30pks of Busch Light/Miller High Life or Pabst Blue Ribbon/Old Style. Yet Suntory’s new -196 Cocktails took the cake for the lowest price spotted: with a $10 rebate, folks can buy 8pks of -196 Cocktails for just $1.96.Other Deals that Caught INSIGHTS Eye Going thru some other notable deals across the country, several stores had Mich Ultra suitcases lower-priced than Bud Light again, including Hy-Vee stores in IA, Food Lion in NC, various Walmarts across several states, Publix in FL and more. In Cincy Krogers, Garage Beer and Cincy Light suitcases were on sale for $23.99 with rebates, same price as Bud/Miller/Coors and $2 lower than Mich Ultra/Yuengling Flight. In an LA Ralph’s, 12pks of Modelo, Firestone Walker, Corona and Truly were half off to $11.99. MI Meijer stores again had Twisted Tea and Truly 12pks for just $6.99 with a $10 rebate, along with NUTRL 8pks at $8.99 with an $8 rebate. MC’s Keystone Light saw a wider array of promotional pushes. And Kona Big Wave 12pks are still 40%-plus off in Tampa and Orlando Walmarts.
