Beer Marketer's Insights - SCANNER TRENDS: Volume and Dollars Up Across Almost Every Bev Segment; Coconut Water Still Rolling

A solid performance for bevs as volume and dollars grew at same time in every segment except liquid coffee and in bottled waters, where volume grew while prices held even for 4 wks thru Nov 2 in NielsenIQ data reported by Goldman Sachs. The best volume gainer by far was small coconut water segment, up 20% for 4 wks. Coke, KDP Enjoy CSD Volume Surge but Pepsi Softens CSD volume rose 3.2% on avg 4.4% avg price increase last 4 wks, but there seemed to be definite winners and losers, with Coca-Cola and Keurig Dr Pepper scoring decisive volume gains but PepsiCo on short end. Coca-Cola CSD volume up 2.4% (+1.6% for 12 wks) on 5.1% avg price gain for 4 wks. KO's low/no-calorie brand volume grew 6.2% along with a 5.6% avg price hike for 4 wks. PepsiCo CSD volume off 0.2% (-1.3% for 12 wks) on 3.3% avg price increase for 4 wks. PEP's low/no volume dipped 0.1% but with an avg price gain of 5.4% for 4 wks. Keurig Dr Pepper CSD volume up 5% (+2.8% for 12 wks) on a 3.9% avg price lift last 4 wks. KDP's low/no volume up 9% along with a 4.7% avg price increase for 4 wks. Private-label volume shot up 10.6% (+5.2% for 12 wks) with a 4.3% avg price drop last 4 wks. Poppi volume up 191.8% with a 5.6% avg price decrease for 4 wks. Olipop volume up 40% with a 1.2% avg price gain last 4 wks. National Beverage's Faygo volume gained 4.9% along with a 2.8% avg price increase for 4 wks. On natural soda side, Zevia volume grew 9.9% with a 2% avg price gain for 4 wks.Monster, Red Bull Improve a Bit Energy drink volume up 1.8% on a 1.5% avg price increase last 4 wks. Monster Energy (not including Bang) volume off 0.2% (-2.4% for 12 wks) with an avg price gain of 1.7% for 4 wks. Juice Monster and Zero Sugar remained hot with volume growing 68.3% and 27% respectively last 4 wks. Original (green can) Monster volume up 3.8% while performance extension Reign down 8.7% for 4 wks. Bang Energy finally getting its groove back as volume shot up 46.7% for 4 wks with assist from 10.7% avg price cut. Red Bull volume up 3.7% (-0.4% for 12 wks) on a 3.2% avg price increase for 4 wks. Summer Edition still on a roll, with volume up 111.4% along with a 4% avg price gain for 4 wks. Red (+21.4%) and Amber (+24.4%) posted solid volume gains as well for 4 wks. PepsiCo (not including Celsius) energy portfolio volume dropped 21% (-20% for 12 wks) with 3.4% avg price increase for 4 wks. There were no gainers among PEP energy brands listed for latest 4 wks. KO (Powerade and Body Armor) volume up 4% (-0.3% for 12 wks) with a 1.7% avg price gain last 4 wks. Trends got even tougher for Prime as volume dropped 44.7% (-40% for 12 wks) even with a 10.2% avg price drop for 4 wks. KDP-aligned Electrolit volume up 35.4% (+24.5% for 12 wks) with a 0.3% avg price increase last 4 wks.Water Volume Up While Prices Remain Flat Bottled water volume up 4.4% (+4% for 12 wks) while prices held even over last 4 wks. Private-label water volume up 4.4% with a 0.3% avg price decrease for 4 wks. Blue Triton volume increased 3.3% on 0.9% avg price gain last 4 wks. Coca-Cola water volume decline was cut in half to -5.3% with a solid 7.6% avg price increase for 4 wks. Spindrift volume up 25.8% (+22% for 12 wks) along with a 5.4% avg price gain for 4 wks. Waterloo volume up 28.1% (+17.7% for 12 wks) with a 1.1% avg price cut for 4 wks.
